Therapeutic Coaching

Not counselling. Not life coaching. Not self-help. Something new — and needed.

A new kind of help for a new kind of world.

Sometimes you need more than coaching. Sometimes you want more than therapy. That’s where Therapeutic Coaching comes in.

It’s a new approach to emotional support — one that blends the depth of counselling with the forward momentum of coaching. It’s practical, relational, and built for real life.

At 5th Place, we work with people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or just know something needs to change. We don’t focus on fixing. We focus on growing — together.

Therapeutic Coaching helps people feel more like themselves, relate more openly with others, and build real emotional strength. It’s trauma-informed, body-based, and ready for the world we live in now.

This is where change begins — not by going it alone, but by being supported to grow in the right direction.

Who is Therapeutic Coaching for?

This work is for anyone who wants to feel more like themselves again — and relate more openly to others.

We work with both individuals and groups, offering safe, supported spaces to explore emotion, build resilience, and grow — at your own pace, in your own way.

You don’t need a diagnosis. You don’t need the right words. You just need to be willing to begin.

We support:

  • Young people facing stress, anxiety, or identity struggles

  • Parents and carers carrying emotional load and responsibility

  • Adults navigating burnout, stuckness, or life transitions

  • Educators, leaders, and helpers who support others but struggle to support themselves

  • Anyone who wants to build emotional resilience — not by avoiding emotion, but learning how to work with it

You don’t have to be in crisis. You just need to want something to change.

Our Therapeutic Coaching Approach

Our model of therapeutic coaching is relational, embodied, and evidence-informed — blending the depth of psychotherapy, the action orientation of life coaching, and the safety and presence of trauma-aware practice.

It draws on several key foundations:

Psychology meets Practice

We integrate principles from Positive Psychology, Neuroscience, and Polyvagal Theory, alongside core coaching disciplines and somatic approaches. This ensures each session is not only emotionally attuned but also grounded in science and focused on real-life change.

The Emotional Fitness Model™

At the heart of our work is the Emotional Fitness Model™ — a structured yet adaptive framework co-developed by 5th Place. It includes our AAA Framework (Awareness, Acceptance, Action), and Shape of Emotion™, an embodied process that helps people regulate emotions without needing to explain or relive difficult stories.

This model acknowledges that emotional wellbeing is not a solo task. It's relational, teachable, and scalable — built to support both individual insight and systemic transformation.

Aligned with UK Professional Standards

Our approach aligns with the BACP Coaching Competence Framework, upholds the Global Code of Ethics, and reflects the evolving landscape of integrated practice in the UK. It is informed by the latest developments in dual training and coaching-therapy integration.

How It Works

We start with what matters

Each session begins with you — what’s going on, what’s important, and what feels true right now. We create space for free, authentic conversation, where you can speak openly and be heard, without pressure or judgment.

We bring understanding

Together, we explore patterns, needs, and emotional responses to help you make sense of your experience. This isn’t just insight for its own sake — it’s the grounding from which meaningful change begins.

We look for what’s possible

We focus on your strengths, resources, and goals. Through guided reflection, solution-focused practices, and somatic awareness, we uncover new possibilities and directions that feel real, relevant, and achievable.

We offer new insights

You’ll gain fresh perspectives and tools — from emotional regulation to narrative techniques, visualisation, and body-based practices — helping you shift stuck patterns and experience yourself in new ways.

We shape what’s next

Together, we identify practical steps and emotional shifts to support your momentum. This part is about direction: what you want to move towards, and how you want to show up in your life and relationships.

We anchor lasting change

We support neurological change by working directly with emotional experiences in the body — where transformation begins, and where it takes root. Drawing on tools like Shape of Emotion, the Rewind Technique, therapeutic writing, and positive mental rehearsal, we support integration and lasting change. These approaches are chosen with care to meet the needs of each person or group, helping embed insight and build sustainable emotional shifts.

Why People Choose Therapeutic Coaching

Because it feels different — and it works.

Some people come feeling stuck. Some are overwhelmed, burned out, or just unsure what to do next. Others are tired of “coping” and ready for something deeper.

Therapeutic Coaching offers a new kind of support — one that’s practical, human, and grounded in how we really feel and change.

People choose this because it’s:

Relational, not clinical – You’re met with care, not just analysis.
Transformational, not surface-level – It's about real, lasting change.
Embodied and emotional – We work with the body, not just the story.
Accessible – No jargon, no judgment. Just space to grow.
Built for now – Designed for real life, not just theory.

“I didn’t need to explain everything. I could just feel it.”
“This helped me understand what I was really carrying — and how to let it go.”

Whether you're 15 or 55, coaching gives you tools to feel more like yourself again — and relate more openly to the people around you.
